This error started popping up recently, and it may coincide with our recent upgade from client 6.4.x to 7.1.2 on our RHEL 6.6 systems.
On systems that have the following in their DSM.sys, things are fine: "domain all-nfs".
On systems that specify a specificly mounted NFS or CIFS share, we get error ANS1071E.

In this particular case, it is the following: ANS1071E Invalid domain name entered: '/eis

DSM.SYS contents:
SErvername tsm01
nodename crxuifut100
COMMmethod TCPip
TCPPort 1500
TCPServeraddress nwttsm01
COMPRESSION no
Largecommbuffers yes
TCPB 256
TCPNODelay yes
TXNBytelimit 25600
PASSWORDACCESS generate
inclexcl /opt/tivoli/tsm/client/ba/bin/inclexcl.list
managedservices schedule webclient
schedlogret 7 D
schedmode polling
errorlogname /opt/tivoli/tsm/client/ba/bin/dsmerror.log
schedlogname /opt/tivoli/tsm/client/ba/bin/dsmsched.log
domain all-local
domain /eis

The FSTAB entry for this particular share (which is CIFS), is as follows:
//crxnas01.xxxx.com/eis /eis cifs credentials=/etc/sapnfs.txt,_netdev,noperm 0 0

If I run, as root "dsmc i /eis -subdir=yes", the backup runs ok. It's only when a schedule runs or "dsmc i" is run with no flags that the ANS1071E occurs. The logs show no TCP/IP errors of any kind.

OS: RHEL 6.6
TSM client: 7.1.2

Any suggestions?

I went through that document, yes. There are none of the indicators in that document, such as ANS3402W or ANS5250E, but we added the info to the HOSTS file anyway. No change in the behavior. The backup of this CIFS share was working up until about a month ago. We just missed the error.
