Hi all,
does someone remember the customer that wanted Daily/Weekly/Monthly/Yearly backup for DB2 database? (And after some deeper testing with DB2 admin I solved that, if someone should need it)
Now customer wants something similar for filesystem data, I tried to explain that that is not how SP works and that "Forever incremental" is the solution.
If he persists, should I talk him about Retention Sets? Does someone have a link/slide that can help me to explain how that works?

Thanks.

Check this video:

At a high level, when a retention set is created, it takes all the active versions for that day, associate it with the retention set. From this point forward, these objects won't expire until they are released from the retention set regardless of what the retention of the backup copy group says. So you essentially create a bunch of restore points from the incremental backups which avoids the need to do fulls or archives at various interval. Also reduces storage because only need to store the data once.

So, basically, it is what he is searching for.

Thanks Marclant.
