Hi TSM gurus,

I haven`t written in a while, but currently i am trying something that i never did.

I have a 7.1.1 on a virtual machine for testing purposes, i would like to backup a directory into the physical machine that holds the virtual one, how is that done?

TSM Version: 7.1.1
OS: Win Server 2008 Datacenter R8
VM: VMware Workstation

Thank you in advance, sorry if thats a stupid question, but i never did that and i am not much of a guru myself.

Regards

I'm not too sure what you mean. Can you expand on that?

Are you trying to backup files in the datastore directly from the ESX host? That's not how TSM4VE backup works.

You are going to have to map the disk location to the VM so that the VM can see it. Then allocate space from TSM to that location. I access my data drive on my main machine from my various VMs all the time. I have never tried to back it up with TSM but I see no reason you cannot allocate the space.
