Hi all,

I use IBM 3583 ULTRIUM Library, I can backup 3mb/seconds. I think it should backup 15mb/seconnds. Any idea about this subject? Thanks everbody...

The theoretical maximums are just that, theorectical in a perfect world ;)

Hi hzdokuzcan,

The IBM network transfer rates themselves are according to specs.

For example, I should be able to move 10 mb s on a 100 mb switched network. I usually get 3 mb s, and this is disk to disk (node to TSM server disk), which is a 1:3 ratio.

If you take a look at the client while it is performing a backup, you'll see that even though the network utilization may be high, the actual read/transfer may not be as high.

Disk searches, time to data, compression algorithems etc will all affect actual time to transmit.

As always, YMMV.
