HSM on RHEL4 AS

Hi all!

Im trying to install HSM on a RHEL4 that is not in a cluster environment, do I really need to install GPFS?
If I have to install it, can someone explain me why? Sorry but im new in Linux stuff, I allways had TSM Server's and client's in Windows environment's, now the time is about to change...:redface:

Ok I have instaled GPFS... But now im stuck in create the FS.

What do you mean "stuck"? Does mmcrfs, mmcrnsd etc. not work?

I have this NSD:

File system Disk name Primary node Backup node
-------------------------------------------------------------
(free disk) gpfs3nsd rhel4-a

Now I run mmfs and get this:

./mmcrfs /gpfs /dev/gpfs -F /tmp/descfile -A yes -B 256K -n 2 -v no -z yes
mmcommon: tsctl command cannot be executed. Either none of the
nodes in the cluster are reachable, or GPFS is down on all of the nodes.
mmcrfs: Command failed. Examine previous error messages to determine cause.
