We are seeing major performance issues with 3583 Ultrium Scalable Tape Library

drives that have been updated to the latest firmware. Anybody else experiencing this? :-o

Yes,

A X232 with Adaptec 39140 card, extremely slow tape performance.

We are using the special Adaptec driver recommended by Tivoli.

The library was slow on the older microcode level also.

There might be a performance isue using IBM server and adaptec controllers. IBM have on the FTP-site a driver for "large lun support", this driver has fixed the problem in some cases fo me. These cases was with TSM 4.2.x on W2k. I have not testet it on the latest firmware for the 3580 drives, this was with a firmware called 22u0 or something like that.

Use this link to get the driver.

Best Regards
