i've found an EMC centera white paper about TSM Data Protection (SSAM).

It is said that :

TSM does not currently use the event based retention features of the 3.1 SDK, so when event based retention is specified (RETINIT=EVENT), content will still be persisted to Centera with the max value of either RETMIN or RETVER ? just the same as if RETINIT=CREATION. It is important to realize that when RETINIT=EVENT the TSM server is expecting an event from the TSM client which will update the retention in TSM?s database but the object will not be updated on Centera. It is thus probable that the retention information in TSM and the retention value persisted to Centera will be different

Someone could confirm this and validate the following example from what i understood ? :confused:

RETINIT=EVENT

RETMIN = 1800

RETVER = 3600

An event on an object occurs 1000 days after creation.

The object will be expired and deleted from the Centera 3600 days after creation (max of RETMIN and RETVER)

The references to the data will be deleted from TSM database 4600 days after creation (event day + RETVER).

So, an archived file seems present but it does not exist anymore.
