I am a reseller for a versatile, add-on to Tivoli Storage Manager. It layers on top of TSM and dramatically increases its ease-of-use and functionality. As the TSM administrator, you can finally see when tasks are completed, taking the guesswork out of task scheduling.

Script writing is a thing of the past!

This software's Windows GUI interface makes it simple to take full software control of your configuration and scheduling tasks. You're in control – run tasks on demand.

Get in touch and we’d be glad to let you try it for yourself; a simple download from the manufacturer’s Web site. Take the tour that summarizes the valuable features this product has to offer. Then download the fully functional trial version for use with your current Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM) V4.1 or later software.

Serializes and Synchronizes Critical TSM Functions

TSM performance decreases when multiple end-of-day tasks run simultaneously. Without our software, TSM administrators write lots of scripts to ensure that only one task runs at a time. They know how difficult it is to determine how much time tasks take. Task execution time varies widely day-to-day depending on the amount of data arriving at the server. So, the administrator usually creates large time windows that inevitably reduce the time available for other time-critical TSM functions.

Our software eliminates this problem by serializing and synchronizing these key TSM functions:

<UL>

<LI>Backing up data to removable media for off-site storage.

<LI>Migrating data from disk to tape as on-site data copies.

<LI>Backing up TSM’s powerful engine, the TSM database.

<LI>Other TSM operations such as recovery script preparation, expiration and storage pool reclamation.
Satus Reporting

TSM managers must verify that operations have completed successfully, identify operations currently in progress, and view the resources TSM is using. Our easy-to-use status displays make it simple to see what’s going on and find and fix errors. They include:

<UL>

<LI>Client Scheduled Event Status - Mounted Volume Status

<LI>TSM Process Status - Ad Hoc Operation Status

<LI>TSM Schedule Status - Operator Request Status
Simplifies Tape and Library Management

Our software eases the task of tape management. With a single click, a tape volume containing primary or copy storage pool data or database backup data can be checked in or out of a library, as needed. With its intuitive GUI, users can easily check in scratch tapes or label blank tapes.

SOME OF THE CURRENT VERSION'S FEATURES

-------------------------------------------------------

Scheduling Function can automate these TSM operations:

<UL>

<LI>Backup of Storage Pools

<LI>Backup of the TSM Database

<LI>Backup of TSM Disaster Recovery Files

<LI>Expiration of the TSM Inventory

<LI>Reclamation of space on TSM Volumes
Automate the following Storage Pool Backup operations:

<UL>

<LI>Back up a Primary Storage Pool to a Copy Pool

<LI>Back up a Next Pool to a Copy Pool

<LI>Migrate from the Primary Storage Pool to the Next Pool
Reclamation processing with TSM requires that you move still-valid client data from tapes onto other tapes and free the reclaimed volumes back to a scratch state. The Automated Reclamation Processing eliminates this time-consuming task. Processing can be performed as part of a schedule or executed ad hoc.

Wide variety of Status Displays makes TSM management easier.

<UL>

<LI>Client Status Reporting

<LI>Schedule Status

<LI>Ad Hoc Operation Status

<LI>Process Status

<LI>Mount Status

<LI>Operator Request Status
In order for Tivoli Storage Manager to use sequential media such as tape media, it must have an identifying label written to it. The Label Library Volumes is a GUI interface for the TSM Label Libvolumes command.

When volumes are moved in and out of a Library by hand, you need to know that the physical contents of the Library match the Library Volumes in the TSM Data- Database. The Audit Library operation gives you the tool you need.

The Volume List allows you to perform operations on volumes:

<UL>

<LI>Display Full Information

<LI>Check Volume(s) in or out of the Library

<LI>Update Volumes

<LI>Move Data from Volumes

<LI>Delete Volumes
In order for a Library to have access to tape media for TSM operations, the media must be checked into the Library.

The Check In Scratch Volumes feature makes the process a snap.

New in our latest version

<UL>

<LI>Run the viewer on any Windows 98/2000/NT computer on the network.

<LI>The multi-threaded server software allows you to run different operations simultaneously.

<LI>Status reporting is more powerful than ever.

<LI>Richer scheduling mechanism for managing daily operations.

<LI>It includes a more complete, HTML-based on-line help.

<LI>Customizable interface for managing multiple TSM servers and libraries.

<LI>Performance enhancements for gathering TSM data.

<LI>Library auditing.
