Client is Windows Server 2008 Enterprise
TSM Client is 5.5.1

Backups have been running successfully.

I have noticed today that the DSMCSVC process is using alot of memory (400mb)

There are currently no backups running. I have restarted the scheduling service and still process is holding onto 400mb of memory.

Any ideas?

Switch to using the CAD service to manage the scheduler - MANAGEDSERVICES WEBCLIENT SCHEDULE dsm.opt option. This will free the memory until the scheduler is required for a backup and alleviates memory leaks in the scheduler that Tivoli has never seemed able to clear up. (At least not that I am aware of)

i have the same problem, but i don't know the CAD service. how can i set it up?
chad_small, can you explain in more detail?

Chad answered it already, in the dsm.opt file (or dsm.sys depending on your OS) you add the line

Code:
MANAGEDSERVICES WEBCLIENT SCHEDULE

and that's it. the managed services controls Web client and Scheduler.
You don't have to have 'WEBCLIENT' in there if you don't want to access the client via the web.

Lastly double check the cad is running as a service.
