I have a question about what is the proper LUN type to hold .vmdk files from VMWare ESX 3 on the SAN?
I am setting up a new LUN and up to this point taking the default characteristics has been working just fine. When you set up a LUN, the DS4100 you can take the default I/O characteristics (optimized for filesystems) or you can choose:
database
multimedia
custom (where it lets you pick your own cache read-ahead multiplier and segment size)
My question is "do one of these other settings fit .vmdk file types better, or even a custom I/O characteristic?"
If anyone has any experience with this, I could use your advise. Thanks!
