Do I need to backup transaction logs also with BA client?

Hello,

I am finalizing and installation of a Domino server.
The OS is CentOS and it's being backed up both by BA client (for the OS) and by TDP

In the BA stanza of the dsm.sys file I have the following to exclude domino stuff:

EXCLUDE.DIR /local/notesdata/.../*.ft
EXCLUDE.DIR /local/translog/.../*.*
EXCLUDE /local/notesdata/.../*.nsf
EXCLUDE /local/notesdata/.../*.ntf
EXCLUDE /local/notesdata/.../*.ns?
EXCLUDE /local/notesdata/.../*.box
EXCLUDE /local/notesdata/IBM_TECHNICAL_SUPPORT/*

In the TDP stanza of the dsm.sys I have the following:

EXCLUDE *

INCLUDE S*.TXN
INCLUDE admin4.nsf*
INCLUDE names.nsf*
...
and so on

My question is if it is ok that I exclude the transaction log directory in the BA client (EXCLUDE.DIR /local/translog/.../*.*)?
Is there a scenario where I will need these files from BA restore?

If I am not wrong, translogfiles are send to TSM server by TDP (INCLUDE S*.TXN)

Any suggestion?

Thanks

Technically unless you are shutting down Domino (for a PIT BA type restore) before a BA backup for all NSF and Transaction LOG files, you don't need to backup from the BA side Transaction LOG files.

OK, no intention of doing PIT snapshot for the whole system.
I will exclude the trans logs.
Thanks for the tip
