Hello all,

I have Oracle DBA's who initiate their own TDP for Oracle Database Backups (i.e. they're not scheduled). Is there a way (FROM THE SERVER SIDE) to determine if the database backup completed successfully (i.e. logical beginning and logical end of the database backup). Right now, I can only see backup pieces completing successfully. That does not indicate if the database backup completed successfully.

Thansk, Joe

Two things you can do:

1. Search the actlog for completed jobs based on the node name. You need to run scripts for this. The event log is useless for this as, you said, the backup is not being scheduled by TSM. Not nice but this is the only way.
2. Ask the Oracle DBA to generate the backup report.

The issue here is more of a Compliance and Audit one if your company is subjected to one. The burden of proof must rely on one accepted reporting mechanism.
