Pointed a client to a new Spectrum 8 server, no export from previous TSM 7 server. What about the TSMDEDUP*.db in baclient folder? What's in it, should it be deleted and rebuilt if I'm gonna use clientside dedup?

It's keeping track of the dedup objects it already sent to the Spectrum Protect Server. If it exists already, chances are you have done client-side dedup in the past.
If you delete it, the client will need to query the server to obtain that information again to recreate it which will increase the total backup time.
