Hi, is it possible to make archive backups of an SAP system running DB2 without TDP ?
SAP version is 4.6C, DB2 v8.

Thanks in advance ...

Can you qualify what you mean by "archive backup" here -
Because when you run a DB2 backup, it comes back as a "backup" -
and the logs come back as "archives"
The retention time is based on the mgmt class info it is tied to...

You can run DB2 backups on a SAP on DB2 system though - yes - it is possible. DB2 v8 will work.
(for ex. - there used to not be a TDP for SAP on DB2 on Linux...so I ran those SAP backups as DB2...)

Db2 can be directly backed up to TSM using TSM API client. using this you can perform online, offline and arvhives of the redo logs. You have to use TSM ba client to backup sap configuration files.
