Hi,

I am using TSM Server 6.3 in Aix 6.1.
Regularly i take TSM DBBackup (using command backup db ) to LTO tape and the retention period is 3 days. The tape catridge returns from VAULT to VAULTRET status after 3 days.

A weeks back, i took a DBSNAPHOT backup and the respective LTO catridge was taken to VAULT. But till today, its stauts didn't change to VAULTRET. I expected it to come to VAULTRET after the 3rd day...

Is the retention period of DBSNAPSHOT backup different from DBBAKUP ?...If so where is it specified....

The details are given below :

I use an admin schedule with del volhist ty=dbs tod=today-1
this keeps 5 days of snapshots. You are right though, as your DB expiration is 3 days, which is for both dbb and dbs.
They dont expire though if they are not in the vault, or the last backup.
