Hello

Working at a VAR, I need to design such below-explained environment:

>> Environment
- Site #1 with Dedupe disk appliance APP#1
- Site #2 with Dedupe disk appliance APP2 and tape library TL2
- Site #1 have its own TSM domain D1 ; Site #2 have its own TSM domain D2 and also have a available server to host anoter domain / database.

(the Appliances will be QUANTUM DXi or EMC DD but not IBM Protectie for sure)

>> Goal : get APP1 eplciatong to APP2 then have APP2 copy data to TL2

Question

Having APP1 replicating to APP2 is OK (with dedupe-based replication via IP) but how can I deal , in a automated manner, with tape cloning from APP2 to TL2

Q#1 : is it better to use VTL or NAS layer presentation ?

Q#2 : when data have been replicated from a "APP1 partition" to a "APP2 partition" ( via partition snaphot or partition mirroring), how can I automate copy from that "APP1 replica" (stored on APP2) to physical tape ?

In my mind , I need to restore volhist etc... to load DB, index media and be able o restore data ?

Q#3 : with previous process, how can I do it an a daily basis to centralize tape vault from S#2 (archive or long-terme retention that can not satand on Dedupe appliance) ?
If i reload every day the DB o match on the replica, 'TSM copy pool' process with all the tapes , not only the few "day-over-day modiied" one ?
how could I deal with that "day-over-day" tape copy from APP#2 to TL2 ?

Thanks SO MUCH in advance for you help.

Best regards

Oliv.
