Hello.

We are in process of implementing container-copy storage pools and a few questions/concerns has come up regarding our tape infrastructure readiness- as I've read the protect stgpool command copies new extents and deletes old extents from container-copy stgpool along with reclaiming tapes in that copy stgpool at the same time, does the reclamation during the protect stgpool command (with or without extent copy/deletion- 'reclaim=only') need 2 drives in the tape library to complete (since we have only 1 drive)? Does the container-copy stgpool reclamation differ any way from other tape pools?

Thanks In Advance.

You will be reading from disk and writing to tape. This can be done with one tape drive.

Yes but what about tape reclamation in container copy storage pool?- does that need 2 drives when initiated with the protect stgpool command?

It does the reclaimation by reading the extents to be reclaimed from disk and writes them to the new volume in the container copy pool. You can set how many drives to use for this and one drive will work.
