I've been down this road before, as have alot of you from the posts I've seen.

Opened support ticket about 3 years ago with TSM Level 2 and got some good information, including this MS technote:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/304101

We've gone through Registry Setting #1. Set to 60 and ran fine for 18 months then the error returned. Set to 40 and ran another 18 months. I could backup, rebuild journal, etc. No problems.

Now here we are, the issue has started again, trying to rebuild the journal. I've attempted the DISKCACHEMETHOD this time, thinking that would work since it's not utilizing memory the same way, but it doesn't.

Any additional suggestions? There are about 80 million files on this particular Windows drive.

Windows is really not a good OS to work with at any level.

A reboot fixes all of this. Why? Memory management is bad.

I guess is either you live with the routine of rebooting every now and then, (SIC: Journal rebuilds every time!), or update to 64-bit and throw in at least 32 GB of memory.

Or, move to a Linux or AIX box!
