Clearing write or read errors?

Apparently, if the ERROR_STATE for a volume is 'YES' then it can be cleared by resetting the access parameter to READWRITE, and we're assuming that one first ran an audit on the volume and is satisfied all is well.

Can the WRITE_ERRORS or READ_ERRORS also be set back to 0?

If you have a volume wherein either of these is > 0, and you audit the tape, and no problems are detected, is it possible to reset these? If so, is it advised?

Hi,
The counters will reset after volume goes to scratch. It may well be that the errors are caused by a bad tapedrive.

Thanks. Yes, there were some suspect drives that were causing some mischief.
