Best training provider

Can anyone suggest the best training provider for TSM and the reasons for their preferences? :grin:

I would have to agree, but I have only IBM to compare them to. I went to TSM (through IBM Education) training in 2001, and the IBM/Tivoli instructor had something come up in the last minute. They substituted a gentleman from SSSI (http://www.storsol.com). Instead of the usual hoop-la and teaching right from the manual, I got some real-world advice through his experiences! It was the best training session that I've had in a long time!

I have attended both the beginner and advanced training classes from both IBM and SSSI. I highly recommend taking the classes offered by SSSI. My IBM instructor had no "real world" experience and admitted that he had never seen TSM in a working environment. The people at SSSI have tons of real world experience and were able to solve many of my issues. I also highly recommend using them for support rather than IBM/Tivoli.

Would have beeen fine to know where you are located

For me working in Switzerland I went in UK to ANIX (at Yates near Bristol) an IBM partner and it was fine because they had experience and very good teaching pèractice.

I think that if you need certification you should take some time after the training to practice it.

Try Tivoli Associates. You can find them on IBM's website for Tivoli Education. The trainer is the guy who wrote the Implementation Redbook and the Certification exam. All of there staff are REAL World experienced and are the Service prodiver of choice for IBM.

You will love this. THEY come to you to provide training.

I have an update on this from my earlier message. I recently took the Advanced 5.1 training from IBM and it was excellent! The instructor really new the product with all kinds of 'Real World' experience. IBM has come a long way over the years with their training. And, like NewGuy mentioned, they came to us! And I took and passed my cert exam a week after the class.
