I have a user who is using XP Pro machine as a "server" and I am having problems getting it backed up. I can do it manually but when I try and start the TSM Scheduler service, it crashes immediately. I get this error in Event viewer for the system.

The TSM Central Scheduler service terminated with service-specific error 12 (0xC).

This error is in the DSMerror.log

07/04/2005 10:42:44 ConsoleEventHandler(): Process Detached.

This is from dsmsched.log

Any ideas? :confused:

You have to check the dsm.opt file. It contains a entry

"Managedservices schedule webclient"

replace it with "Managedservices webclient" and your backup should work.

Would it need to be rebooted? It gives me the same error after adding that entry.

Hello? Anyone there? <Crickets>

Is there somewhere that this answer is in a FAQ or is everyone stumped?

Mwwilliams,

I doubt it needs to be rebooted. If you remove and reinstall the scheduler service it should work. I think somewhere in the definition of the service you tell it whether it is managed by the CAD.

The easiest way to do this is via the setup wizard on the backup/archive GUI

Regards,

Tom
