Hello,

First of all, happy new year :)

On one node, it was not possible any more to backup our Oracle/SAP DB with backint.

The error was the following:
BKI2027I: Using TSM-API version 7.1.6.0 (compiled with 7.1.3.0).
BKI2000I: Successfully connected to ProLE on port tdpr3ora64.
BKI0005I: Start of program at: Sat 31 Dec 2016 08:16:46 PM CET.
BKI1214E: TSM Error for session to server XXX:
ANS1035S (RC406) Options file '*' could not be found, or it cannot be read.

BKI1201E: There are no Tivoli Storage Manager-Servers available.
BKI1203E: Not enough sessions available (2 required and 0 available).

The option file was readable for every Unix account.
Then I restarted the prole process.
This has solve the problem.

1. What is this prole process used for?
2. How could I have guessed that it was due to the prole process?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Hello,

Most likely you are affected by following apar: http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg1IT11153
You can workaround it by adding
Enableinstrumentation NO

Thanks for the url.
In this url, the option Enableinstrumentation is not specified.
How do you know that it is a work around?

Could someone also answer my first question:
What is this prole process used for?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Hello,

I had read that "This process listens on the Data Protection for SAP port tdpr3ora64tdpr3db264 for backint and RMAN connectionsconnections with the shared library and sends performance-related information to the Administration Assistant Server component.".

But there is still something that I am missing.
In our case, there is no Administration Assistant Server.
Therefore why is the prole mandatory?

Thanks in advance for your answer.

Exactly as you read:
"This process:
1) listens on the Data Protection for SAP port tdpr3ora64/tdpr3db264 for backint and RMAN connections with the shared library
2) sends performance-related information to the Administration Assistant Server component.".

So even if you don't use 2), you need 1) :)

EDIT: Sorry for misleading, APAR IT11153 was first google hit when I did search for it. Actually IT16364 was created during my PMR :p
