Hello All

How do I identify slot-ID 4096 in our tape library?
Unit is a IBM TS3100 with 2x 12 slot magazines.

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

check the physical labels on the tape volume and see if it's damaged or stick properly. Replace if needed and try again.

For the worst case, you may try to instruct TSM to read the internal label of the tape instead, but will consume time.

Hello SnipeKing

I want to identify the slot-id, is that possible.
Tape unit is at a remote location.
If I can identify the slot-id then I can read tape internal label: which tape do I move to drive?

Hi,

Sorry that i misunderstood your question before.

on TSM, use show slots <library name> and check the slot result...
or you can read the library menu to check the dedicated slots on the library

http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=ssg1S7004307&aid=1

p.s. 4096 is slot 1 of the TS3100 (I/O station first slot)

On OS level, you could also use tapeutility / ITDT to identify the tape volume on specific element id too

Thanks SnipeKing

I met the similiar problem.
I tried to run a "audit lirary " on my 3584, and ran into several problems:

ANR8300E I/O error on library LIB1
ANR8788W Unable to read the barcode of cartridge
ANR8455E Volume A**** could not be located during audit of library (even though we can PHYSICALLY see the volume in the library)

Has anyone ever experienced these conditions ?......Has any heard of there being a 'barcode label' issue, and how would you move data off of a cartridge with a barcode label problem ?
Thank You !
