Yesterday, the library locked up whilst it was cleaning a drive, so the button had to be pressed to power cycle it, when my daily report came out it there was an error stating the library needed to be audited. I had a look at the contents on the library and noticed the attention light was on and a message about checking reserved media slots, when I looked the cleaning cartridge was not in its correct slot which is 45 with a reserve on the status. the cleaning cartridge was in slot 37. Anyway I got a colleague to take out the magazine and place it in the correct slot, then did an inventory on the library and all was good.
I then decided to audit the library incase there were any anomalies in tsm. I did an audit library with a checkl=barc, got the 8479 error, did an inventory of the library again from the gui came back ok. Tried an audit with a checkl=yes, it takes ages as the library isn't the fastest, audit still fails stating it cant audit slot 4132 but no reason why, q libv shows nothing in slot 37/4132.
Anyone had the same issue, I think it is because the cleaner was put in slot 4132 instead of 45/4140

Thanks for the advice but the slot-element is physically empty and the TSM server does not list the slot with query libvol.

I'm going to assume that the library is in charge of cleaning, and that you are not checking in cleaning volumes via TSM? If that's the case continue reading:
Take a look at what the library map says. You should be able to get a system summary from the web console/operator panel (much slower!). Also, while in there, take a look for any events. Gripper, robot, drive. Open PMR's as needed to resolve those.
Once you confirmed the library is physically good, I'd suggest manually removing the cleaning tape from the library via the web console/op panel.
Once the cleaning tape is in hand, then perform an audit library with a refreshstate=yes from TSM.
If that passes, import the cleaning tape via the library admin panel, and enjoy the rest of your day.

Hope it helps!
