Is there are any other product besides Disk Extender to work with Tivoli Storage Manager to do Hiearchical Storage Manager in the Windows Environment.

Thanks.

Hi,

There is. It is called ELS (Enterprise Leveraged Storage) and it is quite simple to setup and use. It should go GA within a couple months, depending on the demand.

Here is an overview.....

------

Enterprise Leveraged Storage for Windows is designed to move data from disk to a central storage repository in an effort to conserve valuable disk space. Although there are other software venders that offer a similar approach to hierarchical storage, their solution requires additional storage space for this data. Their data is also stored in a format that is only accessible through their own software solution.

ELS’s approach is to leverage the existing backup infrastructure as the hierarchical solution. In this way not only do you save on the additional space you also gain from the fact that no additional training is required as the existing backup tool can access this data.
