After Windows HSM client migrates files to TSM server...Just trying to understand?

Once the files make it to my Windows TSM server, they eventually get migrated to tape. They are medical images, and can never be deleted. My RAID is only 400 GB, so once it hits the watermark it deletes, after it is already on tape. Now, when the client requests a file, how does the TSM server know where it is on tape? I ask because the original has been deleted off of RAID. Does the DB record this or something?

The migration from disk to tape also updates the location of that file in the TSM DB. When the client makes the recall request to the server, the server will know where the files are and load the correct tape.
