As mentioned, send us more details like:

- is LAN Free used?
- Errors messages?
- How many drives are backing up the DB?
- is a disk pool available to speed backups?

Hi ,
Yes this is lan free and in 1 hour it takes 30 gb to back up on lto3 drives and after some hours rman backup fsils with error 72 ..and only 1 channel is selected.
No diskpool is available.

What is the full version of the TSM Server and the os that is hosting the TSM Server?
What is the full version of the Storage Agent, TSM API, TDP, Oracle and the os that is hosting the applications.
When did the issue started?
Is this a new set up?
If so, Verifying the LAN-free configuration

Is the Storage Agent running?
How many LTO3 are there in the library?
Are all the paths and drives on line via the TSM Server and STA?
Does the os see the library and drives?

What log did we find the "error 72"?
The number is too high to come from the application.
Were there any error on the os that is hosting the STA, TSM API, TDP and Oracle?

Were there any error in the dsmsta.err, dsierror.log, tdpoerror.log...
Were there any error message in the TSM Server activity log around the time when the "error 72" was generated?

Is the issue specific with the backup of Oracle?
Does the issue occur with the TSM B/A Client that is hosted on another system?

Here is a link to a techdoc regarding gathering process activity
Gathering Tivoli Storage Manager Storage Agent Activity through the Admin Console

Good Luck,
Sias

Error 72 means "connection timeout". As previously said by LED888, you have to check the TSM configuration and also from RMAN side.

Hi,

How many tape drives do you have in the library? It can help if you increase the number of channels in RMAN and configure the TSM Client to use x number of mount points. This might speed up your backup time.

I'm wondering if you run full RMAN backup or incremental one.

For error 72 you have to increase the following option in server and STA option file.
IDLETIMEOUT
COMMTIMEOUT

Did you check the TDP trace in activity log of the TSM server to verify if "LAN-Free=yes" ?

all the above setting done last week than also no result
taking 20 to 25 gb in one hour on an free after that also
