Looking for information on the memory chip that is used in the IBM 3592 tape cartridges.
The question that I have is - does the memory chip that is in the IBM 3592 tape cartridegs that store tape related data ever get reset?
I am wondering because I read that the long length durability = 300 full file passes (http://www.datasheets.pl/Magnetic_Data_Tapes/IBM_3592_TAPE_CARTRIDGE.pdf) and the highest "write pass number" I have on my tape volumes is 5. We have been using 3592JA/JB tape volumes for a number of years and I thought that this number (5) would be higher.
And if you know if the memory chip data ever gets reset do you happen to know exactly what data/information gets written/saved to the memory chip.
Thanks in advance for your help.
