Alternative to ProtecTier and Hitachi ( sepaton ) HPP VTL

I see the ProtecTier is going away so I'm wondering what everyone is recommending as an alternative?

I have an Hitachi HPP (sepaton under the covers) which is not as reliable as I'd like it to be.

any ideas ?

Your choices are basically disk, cloud, tape or a combination.

Your long term strategy and your current RTO and SLA may drive some of those decisions.

Are you still banking on using VTL and possibly open to FILE-type (NFS or CIFS mounted directories) backup? If you have the money, go with Data Domain or the lesser expensive solution around Exagrid.

By the way, Data Domain has a Cloud solution as part of its offering.
