IBM Protectier TS7620 upgrade to 23TB Failed at Raid Config Array step sethotspare34

Dear all,

Does any one facing this issue below in your Protectier when upgrade capacity from 12TB -> 23TB (Add 01 Expansion) ?

1. Upgrade Kernel for Redhat by using Protectier System & Recovery Disk

• “LCD7560109_IBM_System_Storage_ProtecTIER_Maintenance_and_Recovery_Disk_for_3958-DD4-DD6_and_3959-SM2”

2. Upgrade Protectier system code to v3.4.3.1



3. Process to upgrade to 23TB capacity and get error at Step 19 – Chapter 3 in the Document “Feature Code 9345 – 3959 – EXP 12TB expansion drawer, PN 18R1056, EC M12771”

Hi all,

The problem was solved. The rootcause is the vendor has change the location of the disk bundled in the Protectier Expansion when they remove them to label the warranty.

Solution: re-location the disk to correct slot ID then re-run the Upgrade process.
