I'm trying to find a good way to back up VMware App Volumes with Spectrum Protect. There is a VMware Fling that deploys a temporary machine to which you can attach the app stacks then backup the machine with the Windows Mount Proxy that is servicing that vCenter Datacenter. The problem is that it's a manual process and it's not supported.
Is there a way to just take a backup of the dedicated datastore where the app volumes reside?
I've been told you need to do it from a physical data mover that has HBAs into that datastore LUN but if the virtual data mover can see the vCenter server where the datastore resides is there a way to do it from there?
