So, managed to install Spectrum for VE 8.1 and scheduled some backups and everything looks good except for the plugin in vSphere client.
Tried to unregister and register with the cmd files in C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Tivoli\TDPVMware\VMwarePlugin. Output from register_vcenter_extension.cmd says ok but no plugin available yet.
