Files is in server but TSM detect as currently unavailable

Hi,
Wondering if anyone know why TSM client doesn't detect the file I am trying to restore is in the server. I am sure the data is in the server because Q libvol shows that the tape required is in the server. I tried to restore alot of it but this is just one of them

I tried restoring yesterday's file, same error.

Don't worry. Just make sure that the media which has these files is in ReadWrite access level.

You can check which all media are there in the same storage pool (q vol * stg=STORAGEPOOLNAME)
Once you have the list, please check which all media were written when the backup was taken (which you are trying to restore)
change it to read write access (update vol VOLNAME access=readw)

If it is incremental backup, I recommend marking all the media of the Storage Pool to READW and then trigger the restore... keep on checking the Q REQ and insert the media it asks for within the time frame.

No need, SHOW INVO shows that the file that failed to restore doesn't span across multiple tapes.

Everything looks good. The volume is has access=readwrite, it's checked in, the file that failed to restore doesn't span on another tape, so we just need to focus on this tape.

Did you check the TSM Server activity log around the time you received ANS4035W on the client? There could be other error messages that may indicate what the problem is.

If there's no indication of the cause, let's try to audit that tape to see if there is something wrong with it:

Recently I have experienced same problem, after TSM server upgrade, when tried to restore file on node with very old TSM client (5.4)
After upgrade of TSM server to 7.1.5, i have noticed that I can't restore files backuped from that node before server upgrade, but I can restore files backuped after server upgrade.
I have restored files I needed from another server (connecting as original nodename), which have newer TSM client (I couldn't upgrade client on original node because of old OS).
Not sure if it is your case, but worth trying...
