hello

I would like to ask some help...

I m arguing with my college about retention period settings.
Could you explaine it for me?
How long will the file be restorable, if we run incremental backup every day?

days between backups: 1

How many different versions of the file should be kept? 14
Number of days to keep inactive versions :90

For backup files that a user has deleted from the client node:

Number of file versions to keep 7

Amount of time to keep the last file version 180

thank you for your help!

Read this: https://www-304.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21224145
and this: https://www.ibm.com/developerworks/...ckups_how_the_retention_settings_work?lang=en

Short version: Depends on how quick you get to 14 backup versions. The oldest version expires when the 15th version is added or when it reaches 90 days, which ever comes first.

I read

We run daily incremental...
In this case, if the file is unchanged, that wont be backed up thus new version wont be generated.
But if it changed, that will be a new version, what will be backed up.
If its changed every day (jan 1....14) on jan. 15 i could only restore that file, what was backed up in jan. 2.
Am i correct?
