TSM4VE 7.1.1 on Windows.
Proxy is on a VM. Using hotadd transport.
As you all probably know, when a backup fails, the snapshot remains mounted by the TSM proxy server, so there remains a lock on the volume. So far our solution has been to bring down the proxy, remove the disk through VM, then perform a manual consolidation.
Anyone have an easier/better way?

It's funny, we are exactly in the same predicament as we had a related issue last night.

Needed actions:
- Check what disks are mapped to TSMPROXY in vCenter
- Detach the disks from TSMPROXY (without removing them from disk!!!!)
- For each affected VM, go to vCenter console, right click the VM -> Snapshot ->Consolidate.

If the consolidate still fails, take a Snapshot for the VM, then open Snapshot Manager and select "Delete all".

For this, there is no need to reboot the TSM Proxy nor the affected VMs.
