Hi guys,

I wish to make a final backup of my tsm environment, the TSM will be deactivated and the minimal hardware will be available to a future restore.

So my plan is:

- Backup all stgpools (and keep only the tapes of the copy pools in a vault)
- Backup database (keep that tape to)
- Backup the configuration files (in a pendrive)

So, with these information, Will be possible to restore the entirely TSM eventually?

Thanks!

If you use DRM, run a 'prepare' command and save the file to a USB key or something that you can retrieve.

The steps you outlined are OK, and you can recover even without the RPF from 'prepare'. The prepare contains an all in one - configuration, et al.

Make sure your ALL your copy groups are set to keep data forever and/or disable admin schedules and expiration. Otherwise, it you start up the TSM Server in 6 months, but your retention is 2 months, data will start to expire.

Thank you both, I will proceed with "prepare" too and remember about the expiration.

*Sorry for the "pen drive" term, it's a brazilian way to call "usb key".
