Hello,

I am having an issue with a tape lto4 of 800 Gb in TSM V6.2.

Basically the problem is that the tape only has used 14.1% of the maximum capacity and the volume status shown the tape as full. Checking the Reclaimable Space i see the value as 85.9%, what i was wonder is that if is possible to shrink this value in order to use the rest of the tape capacity.

Here is the log:

tsm: TSM>q vol UC2000L4 f=d

Storage Pool Name: DATA_STG
Device Class Name: LTOCLASS

To be honest i am kind of new working with TSM and i would like to know why this is happening because i realized that TSM normally change this value by itself.

Thanks in advance for your answers.

The reclaimable space is the amount of space you can reclaim from that volume if you run reclamation on that storage pool.

Since it's a bit too long to explain reclamation in a post, I'll refer you to the manual:
http://www-01.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/SSGSG7_6.3.4/com.ibm.itsm.srv.doc/t_reclaim.html?lang=en

http://www-01.ibm.com/support/knowl...ibm.itsm.srv.doc/c_reclaim_works.html?lang=en

To run the reclamation, you can use the RECLAIM STGPOOL command, for syntax, use: HELP RECLAIM STGPOOL
