Hi,

I am having issue with the LAN free backup. We have Windows 2003 server x64 bit STD sp2 OS server for TSM 5.4.5 in which we have already registered AIX node for LAN backup with R3. Now we have installed Storage Agent version 5.4.5 & registered new STA. After this we when we start the agent its getting properly connected to TSM server. We have also defined the path for the LAN free backup. But when we execute the backup from SAP it goes to LAN & mount the media in drive other then LAN free define in "q path".

Also to verify our LAN Free Agent working or not we have taken MKSYSB backup (BA client) for "/user" for same node which is also registered & found that it shows us "LAN FREE BYTES" transfer with same drive which is defined for LAN free backup in "q path". This backup got completed successfully.

Can some one guide how to resolve LAN free backup issue?

Has this work before?
If so what changed?

On the TSM Server, check the actlog to see if there are any error message(s).
Confirm that all the paths and drives are online for the STA.

What happen when we issue the following on the TSM Server ?
VALIDATE LANFREE node_name storage_agent_name
PING SERVER storage_agent_name

On the system that is hosting the STA, check the dsmserv.err.
Keep in mind that there is a possibility that the dsmserv.err may not exist.

I am suspecting that we are backing up the SAP via the TDP.

Are there any error message in the TSM API Client log - dsmerror.log ?
NOTE: There should be two set of dsmerror.log.
One set for the TSM B/A Client and the other for the TSM API.

Are there any error message with the TDP and SAP?

What happen if we perform a backup via the TSM B/A Client?

Are there any error message in the Windows event log or in the AIX error report?

If there are no hints in the actlog or in the dsmserv.err for the STA, start the STA in the foreground to see why the data are not going lanfree.

Good Luck,
Sias

Does the management class specified in the utl file perhaps refer to a diskpool?
