Hi Forum,

we use the TSM Server with Data Retention. So our archives are protected several years. Called SSAM.

Our Primary Pools Archive pools are backed up to a Copypool.
We changed the Library and defenied a new copypool for the new library.
How we can delete the old copypool volumes, which belong to the old library?

delete vol discard=yes is not possible in SSAM.

Thanks

You cannot delete them.

Might be too late now, but if the new library can read the old tapes, it would have been better to update the devclass to point to the new library so that you can continue to use the existing copy pool. You could keep using those volumes though if you update the device class to point to the new library so that you can keep using your old copy pools with existing volumes, but if you already did a backup stgpool to the new copypool, you'll have two copies until they expire.

Thanks for your answer. Yes it is too late and we changed from LTO to Jaguar drives.

In my opinion this is a design failure for SSAM. It should be possible to delete copies of retention protected objects.
But it is not.

Thanks
