I am having issues with the VSS and system state backups on some of my TSM clients. How can i disable those componets and setup Windows to dump to disk and backup that information with the incremental backups?

I don't think you can, if I remember correctly TSM needs the VSS service running for backups.

But, I could be wrong.... Where is that Moon guy when you need him.

I you haven't got the answer yet:

Add the following lines in your dsm.opt file for the Windows 2003 server

DOMAIN all-local -systemstate -systemservices

This will skip the systemstate and systemservices backup.

I am still here!

Hi Brockly71,

On the client GUI...select "Edit"..."Preferences"...then choose the "Backup" tab...click on the highlighted "systemstate" on the "Domain list'. Choose apply...and then Ok. Restart the scheduler & Tsm service.
