HI Team,

We have configured flat file backup of our AIX Servers including few GPFS filesystems .

Is this enough for future restore purpose or do we need to configure mmbackup also for GPFS filesystems ???

Can we configure MMBACKUP through the TSM Backup client ???

Kindly advise ASAP.

TSM BA Client versions 5.3 and up supports GPFS backup out of the box. There is no need to run AIX's mmbackup is your intention is to use TSM to backup all of your AIX environment.

Hi Moon-Buddy,

We use TSM Server 6.2.4 and TSM Client 6.2.2. Is there any GPFS fileset to be installed during TSM Client installation ???

So this means we can set up normal FS backup of gpfs filesystems as well . Is this right ???

Now how do i ensure that the GPFS filesystems are backed up from only one node of the cluster ???

In a HA system, the shared resource is managed from the active node. You will see the shared resource backed up on the active node but not on the passive node. Just make sure the BA client for the shared resource fails over between the two nodes.
