moving tapes from vaultr to onsite

I'm looking for suggestions on moving from offsite to onsite. I would like to scan the door then change to onsite or scan the door and create a list them check them in, this way I won't have as many phantom tapes. Currently the script changes all tapes that are in a VR to ONsite s it's moving tapes from today to ONSite.

The proper way is:

Mountable --> Courier --> Vault

Vaultretrieve --> Courier retrieve --> Onsite retrieve

So you need to get a list of tapes that will go offsite, right?

Run a script to get a list of all mountable tapes. This way, you don't need to scan. Something like 'select volume_name from drmedia where state='MOUNTABLE' > tape_offsite.txt

actually the other way around...once tapes are in the door fro offsite

1. read those tapes to a file
2. move tapes in that file from VR to ONsiteR
3. Check them in as scratch

Why go through this process for checking in scratch tapes?

When you receive the tapes, a list should be generated from your offsite provider, and that should be sufficient.
