Is the media actually seen as NU01L1 or just as NU01 in your media list in GUI?   All of our cleaning tapes are CLN###L4 on the label but the L4 is smaller text and isn’t read as part of the media ID when inserted so they become only CLN###.   I’m wondering if this isn’t the same for your L1?

If you run “vmquery –m NU01” does it show you anything?   “vmquery –m NU01L1”?

What does the Cleanings Remaining output of the vmquery done shown?  Is it 0 by any chance?

All

Environment: One Master 7.0.1 and 2 Robots (LTO3 HP ESL and LTO4 SL500).

I must be having a daft moment, but I loaded a cleaning tape in slot 1 of the robot, its seen as a cleaning tape LTO4 in NetBackup 7.0.1

C:\Program Files\Veritas\Volmgr\bin>vmchange -h <Master> -new_mt hcart_clean -m NU01L1

It looks like a cleaning tape, but from Activity Monitor, if I right click a drive and click clean now, I get this:

Following error occurred while attempting to clean drive <LTO4-Drive> on <Server>. Daemon failed accepting connection (59) and I get a job in Activity Monitor with status 96, which indicates cleaning media not avaiable.

Any ideas where I can look.

Simon
