In point of fact it only says NO to NFS/CIFS.    The original question also asked about SAN as well and I don’t know of any prohibition against that but as others have noted you’d want to make sure the disk array used is backed up to other locations because if the array fails you’d lose both your other data and the catalog you need to restore that data.
