Something sounds REALLY broken with this environment, is DNS working 
properly, are catalog backups running successfully?

If its a physical tape why does it have a virtual tape label for the 
barcode?

Are you just stepping into this environment?
How many policies/etc are there?
I wonder if it would be worth starting over if there are that many issues 
and if you don't have any infinite retention data/etc.
