How up-to-date is the library firmware?
Run ‘scan’ on the robot control host to get firmware version.
Try to force the library to physically go check the slot contents by selecting some of the 25 media id’s (they should all have A…. media ID’s) and select Eject. I expect errors to be generated, but at least the robot should now show the slots as being empty.

Subject: [Veritas-bu] NBU 6.5.6 and HP MSL G3 tape library
We've started a new installation of 6.5.6 using a new server but with an existing HP MSL G3 tape library which was previously configured under BackupExec.
We've removed all the tapes from the library and re-inventoried several times. However the Command View MSL system status continues to display "Slots (Free/Total) 20/45". An when we go to the magazine inventory under MSL, it shows some slots are full (there were no bar codes used on the tapes under the BackupExec environment, I've placed a tape with a LTO II bar code and it shows up fine under MSL and NBU).
And to be certain, there are no tapes in the library!
And when we do a NBU Inventory, sure enough, we get a move ??? media to robotic slot # for 25 unknown media in the preview window.
We've of course powered off the library for 10 minutes and have done everything but "restore to system defaults".
Any suggestions would be most appreciated.
