Hi,

first I want to apologize for my english, it is far to be perfect.

I work for a new company and I am in charge of Backups.

We have plan to change the backup system (maybe to commvault) in few weeks but
for the moment we used NBU enterpise server 5.1 MP6 on windows 2003 32bits
master server.

I am not a specialist of Netbackup so I have started to read a lot of think on
it but today I have an issue with one of our servers.

This server is a windows 2003 64 bits files server with millions of small
files. The backup job don't work anymore.

When I check in NetBackup Client Job Tracker I see that he read each files but
nevers start the write.

it seems for this type of server (with millions of small files), we need to use
FlashBackup-windows.

I can choose Flashbackup-windows in my policies and the backup is completed
without problem but When I try to restore a file I always have an status code 5
error. I notice that Advanced Client part of the porperties is grey so I cannot
configure the snapshot part.

Here my questions:
     - Advanced client option muist be enabled to use FlashBackup or can we use
it without this option?
     - if advanced option is necessary why we can choose flashbackup--windows
in the policy? is it a bug?
     - when we configure the policy can we backup only some folder or use only
the full drive
     - can we restore only 1 file or only the full drive?
     - can we restore on an alternative path or only on original path?
      - How the client must be configured if we want to have the possibility to
restore on file level?
     - where I can find a totial to configure the job properly ? in the
documentaion i have found, The syntax for selecting a drive on a flash backup
is different like this \\.\D:. but when I use the wizzard I have the same
syntax than MS-Windows-NT policy so I am very confused.

Thanks for your Help.

Christophe
