Here's another "I wish it would do this" item.
What I _think_ I want is to have recurring "day of month" exclude dates,
in a frequency-based schedule.
What I'm trying to accomplish is for weekly Full backups, if they occur
during the first week of the month (actually, days 1 through 7), send
them to volumes in Pool1 at a 1-year retention. The other weeks of the
month (day 8 through the last day), send them to Pool2, 1-month retention.
I don't really want to lock down Full backups to occur on a particular
day of the month, nor even a particular day of the week, so prefer the
frequency-based schedules over the calendar-style.
At the moment, I've settled on setting up two schedules for Full's, both
with a 1-week frequency. Full-Week-1 has exclude dates set on the 8th
through the 31st of the month, etc. Full-Week-2to4 has exclude dates
set on the 1st through the 7th.
Of course, these pre-set exclude dates will eventually run out and one
will have to set a bunch more at that point. Perhaps a cron job could run
monthly to set the exclude dates for the next month's worth of schedules.
I ran across this note claiming that someday Netbackup would be able
to do recurring exclude dates (fourth paragraph), but of course no
availability date is predicted:

So, what am I missing? Is there some other way to accomplish the goal
above? Or to approximate it?
Thanks and regards,
Marion
