I think it would be wise.
Nothing stopping you using an ALIAS if these guys want one to correspond to 
their naming requirments?
But to save you some hassle, would be better to retain.

Unless they want to pay for Symantec Consultancy to come in?

We are forced to change the hostname of the master server due to company 
policy, new server = new unique hostname. Will talk to the guys in charge and 
try to get an exemption with this server.
