Windows is most common ( but you can get it from unix as well).

Look at the Detail of the job.

You will see something like this.

1/10/2009 8:07:06 AM - Error bpbrm(pid=348594) from client xxxxxxxxxx: ERR - failure reading file: C:\Program Files\DebugDiag\Logs\DbgSVC_Date__12_18_2008__Time_12_36_43PM__156__Log.txt (WIN32 13: The data is invalid. )

Or this

1/10/2009 3:06:12 AM - Warning bpbrm(pid=147584) from client xxxxxxxxxx: WRN - can't open file: E:\Program Files\CiscoSecure ACS v4.2\CSLog\ACS Service Monitoring.dat (WIN32 32: The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process. )

With the Invalid one – it could be that the file was there when it made the list of files to backup, but the file changed or was gone when it really tried.

With the in use one it is because it just could not get a good backup of the file ( archive.pst files get this a lot).

By looking at what file it had issues with, you may be able to add something to your exclude list.  Some things you will just NEVER be able to backup.  Work with the owner of the server and find out if you can exclude a dir like C:\Program Files\DebugDiag\Logs\*.

In this case I would be backing up the Logs dir, but not any of the files in the dir. ( you want to get the directory in case of restore you have the directory structure for restore).

This will be a common and ongoing job for you to look at your code 1’s, and see if there is anything you are allowed to exclude from backups that will allow it to be a code 0.

On unix you might see the error for anything in the /proc dir ( which you should exclude as you will never be able to backup its contents, and they are not needed for any restore).

HI

One of our backup policy , has finished with error code 1.

I found below are the some of causes which can give error code1.

Status Code: 1

Message: the requested operation was partially successful

Explanation: A problem that may require corrective action was detected during the

Requested operation.

Recommended Action: Check the All Log Entries report and also the progress log (if

there is one).

Some of the problems that can show up under Status Code 1 are:

* A file or directory path that is more than 1023 characters long.

* Could not open a file.

* On a UNIX system, NetBackup could not get the link name of a file.

* On a UNIX system, NetBackup could not process a sparse file.

* Read error encountered in a file.

* File is of an unknown type.

* On a UNIX system, the lstat system call fails on a file that is eligible to be backed

up. This may be a permission problem.

* On UNIX, a file could not be locked that has mandatory locking enabled.

Can some body , help me where I should Look for the error?

Thanks in advance
